Right now, the world is more connected than our ancestors dared to imagine. At CRONE, we aren’t limited by boundaries of distance, culture or dialect; in fact, we’ve found that working with new climates, lifestyles and values encourages us to expand our thinking in every aspect of what we do.

Our international experience has seen us lead projects in the Philippines, Indonesia, China, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. Be it a major urban planning initiative, office tower, retail precinct or a residential dwelling, our designers are determined to improve the world’s cities, one building at a time. With such diversity, each project is unique and involves in-person consultations, responding creatively to local needs and the nuances of culture.

We established a presence in Manila in the 90s, undertaking a number of major master planning projects. In the last 10 years Crone have designed a number of significant Premier Grade residential towers, commercial office buildings and urban masterplan Projects in both Manila and Cebu. At the core of our design methodology is promoting a collaborative Design Process that promotes sensitivity to the environment. The Arya Residences for example achieved both a LEED Gold Star and BERDE rating and has won multiple awards in Asia.

AIA Mentoring Program 2015_ Stukel Stone Architects

It is a great pleasure being involved in the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA), NSW Chapter Mentoring Program this year. As a first timer in the program, I was a bit concerned about what was expected of me, but the AIA provided exceptional support and training sessions to help Mentors and Mentees get the most out of their sessions.

What made the job even easier was being matched with Daniel Stukel Beasly and his wife Tobhiyah Stone Feller, who are founders of their practice named Stukel Stone Architects. It is a very interesting marriage of Architecture and Theatre which brings to the firm a unique spin on design. Together we have identified clear goals in our sessions and I am amazed at how quickly these are being achieved. Looking forward to seeing the firm grow even more over the next few years!

The name “Garden Towers” was derived from a number of green initiatives in the master plan, including green landscaped gardens, green roofs, a green wall at the entrance of the residential development and green sky lobbies designed every 4 levels of the tower.

Garden Towers is an AYALA Land Premier Grade development located in Central Makati in the heart of the Retail Precinct. Our role was the early design phases; Concept Master Plan, Schematic Design and Design Development Review and the local architect AIDEA produced the Detail Documentation.

The Condo’s are selling extraordinarily well. In August 2015 Tower 1 was 92% sold and Tower 2, 70% sold. I wish I had the money and I would have bought one myself.

the power of the oculus

The Oculus is a highly sophisticated computer device that allows the user to experience a virtual world by wearing a head piece. When you put the goggles on, you are transformed into an amazing computer generated world, where your imagination has no limits. You can create buildings and spaces not constrained by structure or gravity. Together with Crone Architects, Sunny Chan from Ivolve Studios, has been developing the virtual software to run off the Oculus device and other VR (Virtual Reality) devices. For example the software allows you to, stand in a luscious green courtyard and look around at a virtual world of buildings, birds, trees, people and look up at a brilliantly sunny day, or stand in a living room looking at a custom designed television cabinet you always wanted and at the marble kitchen bench, fridge cabinetry and parquetry flooring you designed with your architect. The beauty of the software is it allows you to experience a building, or interior space, without having to build it.

What we didn’t realize, was when wearing the Oculus goggles, it also has the power to transform our staff into something quiet disturbing. I was lucky enough I couldn’t see this happening before my eye, due to wearing the goggles. Extreme caution should be used when using VR headsets.
